Fotspår och silverskor

Kiaby är en plats med många minnen i markens djup. Här har människor fötts, levt och begravts ända sedan stenåldern. Därför är detta helig mark.

Inne i kyrkans triumfbåge hänger ett krucifix från 1200-talet. Jesus var från början avbildad barfota. Men någon gång under historiens gång fick han ett par silverskor som gåva. Vi kan ana att skorna var ett sätt för givaren att tacka de fötter som vandrat på jorden. Guds egna fötter.

Längre in i koret i öster kan man se fotspåren. De är målade på väggen. Jesus själv är borta.Han har färdats till andra sidan. Kalkmålningen berättar att när Gud vandrade på jorden lämnade han spår. Inte bara i ökensanden i Judéen utan också djupt inne i människors hjärtan och liv.

Footprints and silver shoes

Kiaby is a place with many of its memories deep underground. People since the Stone Age have been born, lived their lives and been buried here. That is why this is holy ground.

In the triumphal arch of the church hangs a crucifix from the 13th century. From the very beginning Jesus was pictured barefoot. But at some point in the course of time he was given a pair of silver shoes. We can only guess that the shoes were a way for the giver to thank the feet that had walked on Earth. God’s own feet.

Further into the chancel one can see the footprints. They are painted on the wall. Jesus himself is gone. He has travelled to the other side. The lime painting tells us that when God walked on Earth he left footprints. Not only in the desert sand of Judea but also in the depths of people’s hearts and lives.
