Lika länge som människan levt vid stränderna längs Lödde å har hon färdats på ån. Vattenvägarna var de viktigaste och ibland enda förbindelselänkarna mellan platser och människor. Lödde å leder ut till havet i väster och på vikingatiden var Löddeköpinge en stor, betydelsefull handelsplats.

Den som färdas på havet är ofta på väg till en bestämd yttre plats, till en kust och en hamn. Men havet kan också användas för att göra en annan sorts resa. Den keltiska kristna kyrkan växte fram redan under de första århundradena på de brittiska öarna. I den keltiska föreställningsvärlden är Gud påtagligt närvarande i sin skapelse. Gud bor bortom alla stjärnor och planeter men är samtidigt närvarande i allt. I vågen på havet, i vinden som andas på sjön, i löven som rasslar i skogen och i rörelsen i laxen som hoppar.

Ett sätt för kelterna att öva sin tillit till Gud var att sätta sig i en liten skinnbåt utan vare sig segel eller åror och låta sig bli förd av vinden och buren av vågorna dit Gud ville.

Faith

As long as people have lived on the shores of Lödde river they have travelled its waters. The waterways were the most important and sometimes the only links between places and people. Lödde river flows into the sea in the west and in the Viking era Löddeköpinge was a big, important trading place.

Those who voyage on the sea are often on their way to a certain outer place, to a coast and a harbour. But the sea can also be used for another voyage. The Celtic Christian church developed on the British Isles during the first centuries. According to Celtic faith God is tangibly present in his creation. God lives beyond all the stars and planets but is present in everything at the same time. In the wave at sea, in the wind that breathes on the lake, in the leaves that rustle in the forest and in the movement of a jumping salmon.

The Celts would test their faith in God by placing themselves in a small leather boat with neither sails nor oars and let themselves be carried away by the wind and the waves to wherever God wanted.

Lödde river flows into the great sea. Löddeköpinge Church points up towards the limitless heaven. Both invite every person to dare pay attention to their inner longing.
